Much of what we experience in the workplace, and in business, directly ties to emotions. Whether those emotions are healthy or destructive has everything to do with how we choose to act on them.
Confronting issues, challenging others with new ways of thinking, and communicating personal and professional boundaries are healthy ways of expressing emotions.
Don’t confuse collaboration with clear-out-the-mental-cobwebs confrontation. Collaboration does not involve playing the role of caretaker for every person within six miles of your office. Collaboration is never about giving the business or yourself away.
How well do you handle setbacks?
Take an objective look at the setbacks you’ve experienced in the past year. If you really think you had zippo, go on, be brave and ask a trusted colleague or close friend for what they think you could have done better, or what you, "mussed" up.
